Hope is all but lost for NFL's Not-So-Fearsome Foursome

After a narrow escape last Sunday against Jacksonville, Kansas City coach Andy Reid talked about how tough it is to win this time of year, because everybody still has hope. Hope for a happy ending, somewhere in the playoffs in January.

But for four teams already, there is no hope. None, unless they plan on making history. Since the league went to the 12-team playoff format in 1990, no team that has started a season 2-6 or worse has qualified for the postseason.

Which isn’t good news for the likes of Cleveland (0-10), San Francisco (1-7), Jacksonville (2-6), and Chicago (2-6).
