Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse for the Rams, the kicker who replaced the team’s regular kicker was injured during pregame warmups Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome.
When Zach Hocker strained the quad muscle in his kicking leg, that left coach Jeff Fisher looking for volunteers.
“I went through the locker room and I was just asking guys if they’ve ever kicked before, and I had two yeses,” Fisher said. “One from (Matt) Longacre and one from Wes Welker. Fortunately, we didn’t have to get to that point.”
Punter Johnny Hekker ended up handling kickoff duties.
