Gurley, Hekker earn player of the month honors

Running back Todd Gurley has been named the NFL offensive rookie of the month, while punter Johnny Hekker was named NFC special teams player of the month for October.

Gurley rushed for 433 yards and two touchdowns in three games in October, marking his first three NFL starts. He's the first NFL rookie since Cadillac Williams in 2005 for Tampa Bay to rush for 125 yards or more in each of his first three starts. Gurley currently has a league-high total of three rushes of 45 yards-plus.

He's the third Rams player to earn rookie of the month honors, joining quarterback Sam Bradford (October and November of 2010) and wide receiver Eddie Kennison (October of 1996).
