It almost seems redundant to state at this point, but running back Todd Gurley once again had a terrific game against the 49ers on Sunday. The rookie from Georgia has continued to shatter longstanding marks -- the latest of which is the most yards rushing from a player in his first four starts since the AFL-NFL merger.
With 566 yards in his first four starts, Gurley bested former Lions running back Billy Sims, who had 539 yards in the first four games of the 1980 season. Gurley also became the first rookie in NFL history to rush for 125-plus yards in four consecutive games, finishing Sunday’s 27-6 victory with 133 yards on 20 carries.
