The New York Giants claimed safety JR Reed off the LA Rams practice squad on Tuesday. Per NFL rules Reed was signed to the Giants active roster.
Reed was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. He was released in final cuts and signed by the Rams to their practice squad last year.
The second-year safety was activated in December and saw special team snaps in seven games, including the Seattle and Green Bay playoff games. Reed made the Rams opening roster in 2021 but a plethora of safeties made him expendable and he was released in October.
