After a promising rookie year, cornerback E.J. Gaines will miss the 2015 campaign with a season-ending foot injury suffered in the first weekend of training camp.
Gaines started the Rams’ first 15 contests last year -- the only rookie cornerback to do so for any NFL team in 2014 -- missing the Week 17 matchup with Seattle due to a concussion. A sixth-round pick out of Mizzou, Gaines led St. Louis with 14 passes defensed and racked up 105 total tackles.
“To come in as a sixth-round pick and get an opportunity because of injury and keep the job, I thought it was a very impressive effort last year for him,” Fisher said Monday.
