The Los Angeles Rams employed Greg Zuerlein as their kicker from 2012 to 2019 but chose not to retain him in free agency this year for a number of reasons, including salary cap space and Zuerlein’s potential decline. Despite only being 32 last season, Zuerlein missed one kick inside 40 and went only 5-of-11 in the 40-49 range.
He did go 42-of-42 on PATs and has been consistent inside of a certain range during his career with the Rams and it wasn’t hard to find someone who would tell you letting the veteran kicker walk was a mistake.
