Former Big Red standout 'Tootie' Robbins dies

James "Tootie" Robbins, a mainstay on the offensive line for the Cardinals at the end of their tenure in St. Louis, has died two former teammates said.

Ron Wolfley, a fullback who like Robbins moved with the team to Arizona after the 1987 NFL season, said Robbins had contracted COVID-19. Wolfley is a sports radio talk-show host in Phoenix and made the announcement Monday on that program, the Arizona Republic newspaper reported.

The Cardinals picked Robbins in the fourth round of the 1982 draft, out of East Carolina, and he spent 10 seasons with the franchise. Robbins, who turned 62 in June, played his final two NFL seasons, 1992 and '93, with the Green Bay Packers.
