JEFFERSON CITY • Missouri lawmakers plan to reinstate the $12 million Edward Jones Dome payment in next year's budget after Gov. Jay Nixon gave his word that money wouldn't be put toward a new stadium in St. Louis.
But if Nixon's administration enters into a financing agreement for a stadium anyway, House Budget Vice Chairman Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, said Wednesday he is "going to come unhinged."
Earlier this month, a House committee stripped the dome's bond and maintenance payment in the 2017 budget year that begins July 1. But House Budget Leader Tom Flanigan, R-Carthage, said Nixon on Tuesday agreed to leave that $12 million alone.
