The contract drama between quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams may be over for 2024, but it may be far from over.
During the NFL Draft, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Rams quarterback wanted more guaranteed money. Despite playing like a top-5 quarterback at times through the 2023 season, Stafford had no guaranteed money for 2025 and 2026. From Stafford’s perspective, this meant that he had no future stability from the team. Meanwhile, from the Rams’ point of view, it gave them flexibility if something were to happen.
