St. Louis’ first offensive tackle in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dan Dierdorf, looks up to the second, Orlando Pace. Literally.
“I just looked at Orlando Pace, and I would think to myself, ‘Man, I wish I was that big,’” Dierdorf said. “I wonder what it was like to be that tall, with arms that long.”
Pace played at 6-7, 320, give or take a few pounds, in the NFL from 1997-2009. Playing a generation earlier, from 1971-83, Dierdorf checked in at 6-3, 275.
“Orlando was never a surprise to anybody, as good as he was in college,” Dierdorf said.
