Cam Akers ruled out for Week 16

The LA Rams have ruled out starting running back Cam Akers from playing in Week 16’s important NFC West showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. Akers suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets and is out indefinitely.

Akers was sparking the Rams offense with his runs over the last three games, totaling 306 yards on 36 carries, plus four receptions for 44 yards. He had several important runs against the Jets called back because of penalties by the offensive line and tight end Tyler Higbee.

Without Akers, the Rams will be turning back to Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown for the foreseeable future.
