Over the course of their illustrious NFL careers, Marcus Allen, Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk and Jim Brown rarely got caught from behind.
But Indianapolis running back Frank Gore caught all four — in the span of eight days. During the Colts’ game Oct. 2 against Jacksonville in London, Gore passed Allen, James and Faulk on the NFL’s career rushing list.
This past Sunday, during the course of a 14-carry, 75-yard performance against Chicago, Gore leapfrogged Brown into ninth place on the NFL’s career rushing list.
Allen, James, Faulk and Brown aren’t exactly ham-and-eggers. Putting Brown in the conversation means you’re talking about someone many still consider the best football player of all time, regardless of position.
