On January 6, 2019, with 10 seconds left in the wild card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears K Cody Parkey kicked a 43-yard field goal. Eagles DL Treyvon Hester grazed the kick with a finger. The ball slowly, almost infinitely careened toward the left upright, hit it, dropped to the crossbar, hit it and fell to the ground in the end zone.
Less than two months later, the Bears released Parkey after just one season of his four-year contract.
In their search for a replacement, the Bears signed eight kickers going into organized team activities.
