Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have joined the Los Angeles Clippers in what was the most surprising move of 2019 NBA Free Agency. The Toronto Raptors are still in a weaker Eastern Conference but the battle for the Western Conference may rest in Los Angeles between the Clippers and the Lakers. The Lakers were one of three teams left in the running for Kawhi Leonard but even with missing out on them, the Anthony Davis trade is still one that has propelled the Lakers into the upper echelon of the NBA. With a rivalry brewing in the Staples Center, the question remains: which team has the better duo? The Clippers are the talk of the town with Kawhi and PG13 but looking at the context of their past success with teams like the Raptors, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs, they might not be so unbeatable after all.
Anthony Davis has only made the playoffs twice in his career with the New Orleans Pelicans but has excelled in both trips. Paul George on the other end is known for struggling in the playoffs with both the Thunder and the Pacers. If it comes down to these two teams meeting in the playoffs, could the Lakers second superstar be the key to taking down the Clippers? Kawhi Leonard meanwhile has had success with both the Raptors and the Spurs but could that be the product of a better cast surrounding him than LeBron James has had in recent years? With Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram gone and replaced by AD, does James have the weapons needed to win the 2020 NBA Finals? In this episode of Lakers Report, host Hannah Kulik breaks down which team has the better pair of superstars between the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers.
