The Los Angeles Lakers will not have a lot of money to play with when free agency opens in 2020. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will likely opt into an $8 million player option, which will limit the Lakers quite a bit. But perhaps they can begin scouting affordable players like Goran Dragic of the Miami Heat in Orlando. Dragic may demand a bigger payday than the Los Angeles Lakers can actually afford, but if he is willing to take a pay cut to play for a championship contender, the Lakers may be able to steal him away in free agency. Dragic has primarily been playing a bench role this season for the Heat, but if he came to the Lakers, he could start right away.

Justin Holiday of the Indiana Pacers is having one of the best offensive years of his career. Holiday signed a one-year deal with the Pacers in an attempt to prove himself, and he has done just that. When the Pacers travel to Orlando, Justin Holiday will have an even bigger opportunity to prove himself with Victor Oladipo and Jeremy Lamb sitting out due to injury. Holiday is 31 years old, which could lead to him demanding more money this offseason, but if not, the Lakers should take a swing at him as an off-the-bench option.
Mason Plumlee and Jakob Poeltl are two big men that will hit free agency this summer and should be on the Los Angeles Lakers’ radar. Jakob Poeltl is a young big man who is having a solid year with the San Antonio Spurs, but perhaps he could find himself moving to the Los Angeles Lakers as they potentially look to add a traditional big to the rotation this summer. Mason Plumlee could be a replacement for JaVale McGee if he goes somewhere else this offseason.
5 affordable free agents the Lakers should scout in Orlando:
PG: Goran Dragic
SG: Justin Holiday
SF: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
PF: Mason Plumlee
C: Jakob Poeltl
