Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma were playing their regularly scheduled game of around-the-world against coaches Brian Shaw and Miles Simon at American Airlines Center on Saturday, shouting and laughing as they always do on the court.
Amid the chaos stood Isaiah Thomas, calmly shooting three-pointers from different areas on the court, smiling sometimes at his teammates. It was Thomas' first shootaround with his new team — the first time he's been on the court with the Lakers.
"I was shocked," Thomas said of being traded away from Cleveland. "I only played 15 games for the Cavs. It was a surprise, but at the same time, I am happy to have a new start.
