The Lakers have reportedly reached an agreement to bring veteran Metta World Peace back to the team on a one-year contract.
World Peace, 35, was a member of the Lakers' last championship team, in 2010, and has regularly worked out at the Lakers practice facility this summer. He has drawn praise for his training sessions with second-year forward Julius Randle.
A reunion between World Peace and the Lakers had been rumored for weeks. In a discussion with reporters Thursday afternoon, General Manager Mitch Kupchak said it was "a possibility."
However, shortly after Kupchak's remarks, Yahoo reported that an agreement had been reached and that World Peace would sign a contract Thursday and take a physical Friday.
