Report: Magic Johnson, Rob Pelinka Have Been Hoping To Get ‘Their Own Coach’

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton has seen his name in headlines quite often since the beginning of the 2018-2019 NBA season.

Walton, who is in the third year of a five-year deal, seems to be on the hot seat despite his team’s success early in the season.

The Lakers are currently fourth in the Western Conference and are only 2.5 games out of first from the Denver Nuggets. Still, his job security has repeatedly been called into question.

Even though Walton has Los Angeles playing well, it seems as though president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka aree still seeking to replace him, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN as transcribed by RealGM:

“We know since Magic’s taken over, they have been hoping to get their own coach in at some point,” said Adrian Wojnarowski.
