With a 116-108 victory over the Utah Jazz that was more dominant than the final score indicates, Anthony Davis, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers locked up the top seed in the Western Conference for the first time in a decade.
Davis came up huge in the game, dropping 42 points and 12 rebounds in an absolute demolishing of two-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. It was hard not to view the game as a statement from Davis on where he sees his place in the league’s defensive big man hierarchy, and rankings of big men in general.
