LOS ANGELES – Metta World Peace has known Kobe Bryant for a long time, and when Bryant walks away from the NBA following the 2015-16 season, he’ll have a library of memories.
But he needed something more tangible.
On Nov. 30, World Peace sat at his locker in the corner of the Lakers’ locker room, reading Bryant’s retirement letter. As his eyes worked their way down the page, he sounded like someone attending a revival.
“Ah.” “Oh.” “Yes he did.” “Yes sir.”
The entire time, he nodded his head in agreement, while plotting his next move.
