LOS ANGELES – Fountain Valley native Anthony Brown said it was a dream come true to be drafted by the Lakers.
Now, he’ll be a starter in his first game at Staples Center.
Granted, it’s the preseason. But, coach Byron Scott announced Sunday morning that the former Ocean View High School star would start against Maccabi Haifa, from Israel, in place of D’Angelo Russell.
Russell will miss his second straight game due to a strained glute, Scott said.
Brown will start alongside Kobe Bryant, Jordan Clarkson, Roy Hibbert and Julius Randle.
The 6-foot-6 swingman, who spent five years at Stanford, was drafted 34th overall in June.
