The Los Angeles Lakers interviewed former NBA players Corey Maggette, Lester Conner and Mo Peterson for their director of player development position, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. Turner reports that Maggette has since “withdrawn from consideration” and that whoever gets the job will also serve as an assistant and report directly to Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka.
It’s unknown exactly what role whoever the Lakers eventually choose for the job would serve, although the title and description would make it appear that the eventual hire will be focused on developing the Lakers’ young players.
