Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young owns a player option for 2017-18 worth $5.66 million as part of his contract. According to Young, he has not yet made a decision to pick it up, or choose to join the 2017 free-agent market in July. Young has until June 21 to exercise his option.
"Of course I’ve thought about it," Young told the Los Angeles Times. "We’re going to see what happens this summer. I’ll talk to my agent. Had a good year, feel confident about this offseason. We’ll see what happens."
The prevailing opinion from those following the team is that Young will opt for free agency after having a strong season, his best with the Lakers, on the defensive side of the floor.
