NBA Rumor Central: Bass chooses free agency

Forward Brandon Bass has decided one season with the Los Angeles Lakers is enough. According to Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Bass will decline his 2016-17 player option worth $3.5 million.

Bass signed with the Lakers on July 9 as he anticipated having a prominent role on the team. Well, he played in 66 games and averaged just 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists. Bass, now an 11-year NBA veteran, may seek to sign with a 2017 playoff contender this July as a free agent.

With Bass coming off the books, the Lakers now have just $23.
