NBA Board Of Governors Approve 2019-20 Season Return With New 22-Team Format

The NBA Board of Governors officially approved a 2019-20 NBA season return, which features a new 22-team format and a play-in tournament in Orlando, FL.

According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, the league is hopeful of finishing the season amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) and is aware of the ongoing racial issues.

“The Board’s approval of the restart format is a necessary step toward resuming the NBA season,” Silver said in his official statement about resuming the league’s 74th season at Disney World. “While the COVID-19 pandemic presents formidable challenges, we are hopeful of finishing the season in a safe and responsible manner based on strict protocols now being finalized with public health officials and medical experts.
