The Los Angeles Lakers made a lot of noise this offseason. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka made good on their promise to land a superstar, signing LeBron James in free agency.
With James in Hollywood, the Lakers have changed the course of their franchise. Their playoff drought, which is at five years, should come to an end with James in town. Despite James signing a long-term deal, the rebuild in Los Angeles has officially been pushed up.
While it may take a little while for all the pieces to come together, a team that signed a player of James’ caliber is no longer rebuilding.
