A few years ago, the Los Angeles Lakers made a very big decision to trade their former No.2 overall pick, D’Angelo Russell. With a new president in Magic Johnson and general manager in Rob Pelinka, they had a vision for the future of the Lakers that didn’t include Russell.
After making a few awful signings in Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov, the Lakers’ new front office wanted to try and clear some cap space. However, moving Mozgov’s contract came at an expensive price.
Since being traded by the Lakers, Russell has had a lot of success in Brooklyn with the Nets.
