Lance Thomas was so nervous about his opportunity to attempt a half-court shot worth $25,000 that his hands shook even when signing the liability form.
“My girlfriend kept laughing at me the entire first half because I was so zoned out being so nervous,” Thomas said.
But when it mattered most Thomas was as steady as the NBA’s greatest stars, sinking from the midcourt logo to win the Bellagio Big Shot Jackpot during Friday’s game against Milwaukee.
Thomas became just the ninth fan (plus former Laker Vlade Divac) to hit the half-court shot in the 13-year history of the contest.
