EL SEGUNDO – Coach Byron Scott joked he was ready to unleash a lot of frustration on center Robert Sacre on Monday after the Lakers’ fourth-year center fouled a Portland player on a 3-point attempt in the final minute.
The next morning, however, the Lakers offered a tacit endorsement of Sacre’s standing with the franchise when they waived undrafted rookie center Robert Upshaw, who had been competing for Sacre’s backup role.
The Lakers trimmed their roster from 19 to 17 players by cutting Upshaw and undrafted rookie Michael Frazier, and still need to waive two more to reach the league maximum.
