Lakers waive Robert Upshaw and Michael Frazier

The Lakers waived center Robert Upshaw and point guard Michael Frazier amid the team’s first round of cuts that dwindles their 17.

The Lakers have until their season opener on Oct. 28 to reach the NBA-limit 15 players on their roster.

Upshaw attracted some intrigue and could have more upside than backup centers Robert Sacre and Tarik Black. But the Upshaw looked undeveloped in training after averaging 2.5 points, 3 rebounds and .75 blocks through four games. Upshaw also entered training camp with baggage after the University of Washington and Fresno State dismissed him from their programs for violating unspecified team rules.
