LA cannot keep pace with Warriors, who outscored Lakers 64-49 in second half.
The Los Angeles Lakers kept pace with the Golden State Warriors for a majority of three quarters, but eventually couldn't keep up with the defending champs in a 116-98 loss. The Lakers had a tough time containing reigning MVP Stephen Curry, who led all scorers with 26 points.
L.A. had most of its success with a small-ball unit featuring all its young players. D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Anthony Brown, Julius Randle and Tarik Black were able to match Golden State's bench throughout most of the second quarter.
