Lakers sign forward Metta World Peace

The Lakers expect to sign forward Metta World Peace before training camp begins with the team's annual media day on Monday in El Segundo.

While the franchise has been talking to World Peace since August, an executive with the team said now it's just a matter of getting a contract signed.

World Peace, 35, played four years with the Lakers, winning a title with the team for the 2009-10 season, leaving in 2013 under the team's amnesty waiver. He didn't play last season, after a short stint with the New York Knicks in 2013-14.

When official, the Lakers will have a roster of 19 players, with 12 contracts fully guaranteed.
