Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young has declined his player option and will become a free agent, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.
Wednesday was the deadline for Young to make a decision on his $5.7 million option to remain with the Lakers for the 2017-18 season, and he has decided to test free agency.
Young will enter the market after arguably the best season of his professional career. Young averaged 13.2 points while shooting 40.4 percent from the field in 60 games for Los Angeles. The 32-year old guard also earned consistent praise from Lakers head coach Luke Walton for his defensive effort.
