SAN DIEGO – Larry Nance Jr. could tell something was wrong as he loosened up and took his first warmup shots at Valley View Casino Center.
The court at the former San Diego Sports Arena has a reputation among NBA players for problems: being uneven, having dead spots. Typically, however, it has been good enough for an exhibition game.
This time, though, the rookie Nance noticed it was wet.
He remembered thinking, “The show must go on, I guess.”
Until, that is, it doesn’t.
The Lakers preseason game with the Golden State Warriors was called off with 2:16 remaining in the third quarter, the Lakers leading 85-70.
