The Los Angeles Lakers are "nearing a deal for [Brian Shaw] to become Luke Walton's lead assistant coach," according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. Turner reports that Shaw has "always been the coach Walton wanted on his staff," and it seems like the Lakers once again got their man.
Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reported on Friday that Shaw, in an effort to remain closer to his family, was waiting around to see if he could latch on to the vacancy on the Golden State Warriors staff created by Walton heading to the Lakers, but it sounds like his thinking has changed over the past 24 hours.
