Following the 2015-16 regular season, draft, free agency period, and then Las Vegas Summer League, it’s pretty clear what each member of the Los Angeles Lakers’ young core needs to work on. D’Angelo Russell needed to continue to improve as a playmaker. Julius Randle and Larry Nance, Jr. have to improve their jumpers. Brandon Ingram has to put on weight. All of them (even Nance, Jr., although not as much as the rest) need to work on their defense.
For Jordan Clarkson, the most polished of the team’s young pieces, the answer was less clear. His three-pointer needs to improve, and he shares the aforementioned defensive issues of his teammates.
