LAS VEGAS – Plenty of time awaits for Luke Walton to decide where to cash his chips. But like so many of the gamblers in this city, Walton admitted uncertainty about his next move.
Walton does not have to mull whether to take another card or pick a different number on the roulette wheel. Instead, he must decide how to manage a backup point guard spot that has two dependable options.
Does he favor 12-year NBA veteran Jose Calderon, who has impressed the Lakers with his shooting and leadership? Or does Walton choose Brazilian native Marcelo Huertas, who has transitioned well from international play to the NBA because of how well he directs the offense?
