Lakers Injury Update: MRI reveals Lonzo Ball has ‘mild’ calf strain

An MRI showed that Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball has a “mild” calf strain. Ball is expected to rest for one or two weeks before being reevaluated.

The Lakers held Ball out of their Las Vegas Summer League championship game with his calf injury after it cramped up in their victory over the Dallas Mavericks in the semifinals, but he still won the tournament’s MVP award after posting averages 16.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and a Las Vegas-leading 9.3 assists while swiping 2.5 steals in summer league. Ball was named to the tournament’s first-team as well.
