The Lakers are suddenly thin at point guard after the Lakers announced Monday veteran Jose Calderon will join D’Angelo Russell on the sidelines and will miss two to four weeks with a strained right hamstring.
Calderon, 35, started the past eight games — and nine of the past 10 — while Russell sat with knee pain. The Lakers (10-12) are 3-6 with Calderon in the starting lineup. He averaged 6 points and 3.7 assists as a starter in 17.2 minutes per game.
Russell received a platelet-rich plasma injection, a minimally invasive procedure, on his knee Nov. 23.
