Back in June 2015, the NBA announced the signing of an apparel deal with Nike that was due to begin with the 2017-18 season. Financial terms of the contract agreement were not disclosed, but it is believed to be an eight-year merchandise deal that is reportedly worth $1 billion.
With Nike in control, teams shifted from traditional home and road uniforms and instead have been outfitted with four editions. While it’s provided teams — and consumers — with more options, there’s been some push back with respect to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Their Nike designs are: Icon (gold), Association (white), Statement (purple) and City editions.
