The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of one of the worst seasons in team history by almost any metric. The team sits at 8-31, keeping Los Angeles on pace to set a new low for worst record in the organization's history for the third consecutive year. According to Basketball Reference, the team will also have one of the four worst defenses in team history for the third consecutive year if they continue apace (those two things are probably not unrelated). To top it all off, the Lakers could lose their draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers if a few ping pong balls bounce the wrong way on lottery night and the team falls outside the top-three in draft order.
