OAKLAND – Lakers starting point guard D’Angelo Russell received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his sore left knee on Wednesday and is expected to be out a minimum of two weeks, the team announced in a press release.
Russell, in his second season after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in 2015, is averaging 16.1 points, 4.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals for the Lakers (8-7). He missed Friday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs and Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and appeared limited and reluctant to drive in Sunday’s game against Chicago.
