Byron Scott was back on the sidelines at the Lakers’ practice facility Wednesday, fresh off a plane after missing two days of work to play in a charity golf tournament in New York.
His appearance was a favor to friend Victor Green, the former New York Jets player whose foundation hosted the tournament. And even taking that much time away from the Lakers, even for his favorite off-the-court pastime, agitated Scott. He shot down requests to stick around and play in tournaments hosted by Joe Namath and John Starks later in the week.
“I’m only going to do the one tournament,” Scott said he told his fellow retired stars.
