Lakers' Anthony Brown moves toward bigger role

EL SEGUNDO – Since his arrival from Stanford, rookie Anthony Brown has, for the most part, remained a mystery to Lakers fans.

Often he has been behind the bench in a suit. Only the most hardcore fans have seen him suit up in six games with the D-Fenders of the Development League.

Brown attended Ocean View High in Huntington Beach and, when the Lakers drafted him in the second round of June’s draft, became the first Orange County native to play for the Lakers in a couple of decades.

He has quietly been moving toward a bigger role after earning the trust of Coach Byron Scott, who has twice called on Brown to start games Kobe Bryant has missed.
