Kobe Bryant logs season-high 37 minutes in Lakers futile chase of a win

LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant started for the bench when he saw Metta World Peace heading onto the court in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 102-91 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Just under seven minutes remained in the game and the Raptors lead had ballooned to 13. Bryant had endured a rough shooting night and he had already logged around 31 minutes.

However, World Peace held up a hand to let Bryant know to stay on the court. He had been sent to replace Brandon Bass, not Bryant.

“When Metta was coming, I thought I was coming out,” Bryant said, “which is what we normally do.
