Jerry West, LeBron James among those expressing their admiration for Muhammad Ali

OAKLAND – You can tell that Jerry West wanted to know Muhammad Ali better.

The two exchanged “hellos.” West saw Ali fight in Los Angeles, saw him battle Joe Frazier in New York City.

But he never really got close, despite being a massive boxing fan.

Ali was just too famous, “deluged” with people, as West put in Saturday.

The former Laker and one of the NBA’s all-time legends held court following the Warriors practice Saturday, answering questions and remembering a man he looked up to.
