Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss reflects on how Dr. Jerry Buss’ poker lesson helped her with the Anthony Davis trade on ‘Daddy Issues’ podcast.
According to Melissa Rohlin of Sports Illustrated, Buss remembered her father teaching her to be patient but knowing when to go all in and making the move.
“That was the moment my dad said, ‘I don’t know if you’re going to be able to pull it off, I don’t know if you’re going to have the guts for it,'” Buss said about the trade.
In the end, the Lakers traded Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and multiple draft picks to the New Orleans Pelicans for Davis — and it has worked out.
