SAN DIEGO — Lou Williams will not play in Saturday’s exhibition against Golden State due to a sore groin. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year tweaked it in practice, though the team does not fear it to be a serious injury.
“If it were regular season, he could play,” head coach Byron Scott said. “At this particular time, the last thing we need is one of our best players not being ready for (the season opener). I’ll probably give him the night off and (practice) tomorrow off.”
Williams, who has averaged a team-best 16.4 points per game in 25.
