The LeBron James era in Los Angeles got off to a sour start, as the Lakers fell to the Denver Nuggets 124-107 in the team’s preseason opener at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Sunday.
James only played a handful of minutes, as was expected going into the game, but the 33-year-old looked like himself in the brief time he was on the court, putting up 9 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds in just 15 minutes. He was also just one of four players who played at least 10 minutes to end with a positive box plus-minus (+1), with the others being Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (+3), JaVale McGee (+5) and Rajon Rondo, who ended the night with a team-high +7 BPM.
